Little Slugger

Tonight, Eli had his first t-ball game. Seeing him out there, being a part of a team, took me back to when he first started hitting a ball off of a tee. Stephen would work with him whenever he could, and Eli would always amaze us at how well he could hit the ball at such a young age. It wasn't that long ago, but he was just such a baby then. He sure has changed so much.

Here he is at almost 15 months old.

Game day started with a trip to Dick's to find baseball pants that actually fit him. I bought the smallest ones they had, but they were still a little big. He also got batting gloves (I had no idea they came in such small sizes). Papaw and Mamaw came to visit from Troy to watch Eli 's first t-ball game. Papaw bought Eli a new helmet. Needless to say, Eli immediately took a liking to his new gloves and helmet and could not part with either before naptime.



Okay, so let's move onto the game. Here is Eli in his uniform. So, so cute!

So the game begins. Eli is number 5 in the line up. He's ready to hit for the first time.

Great hit, Eli! Now it's time to round all the bases and cross home plate for your very first time. What a great moment!

Ha!! If you just watched that and you didn't laugh, something is definitely not right with you. I'm sure Eli will get some laughs out of that video clip one day, too.

I guess it's necessary to keep all the players, uh... let's say focused on the game. During the second, and final inning, Eli's attention span was just about depleted, so he started chasing Finley around the field.

After the game, the coach picked up Eli and told him he was the team slugger. He is a good little ball player. I have to say that Eli's coach is nice, but he hasn't taught Eli one thing about t-ball. Grandpa has been taking him to practice and hitting and throwing with him at home. Thanks for working with him, Dad!

What a great first game! The best part? Eli loved it and cannot wait to play again. That's what it's all about. GOOOOOOoooooooooo Orioles!
